The English Language Institute in King Abdel Aziz University, Jeddah, was established in 1975, when the University invited the British Council to establish a project to teach the English language for the students of Faculty of Engineering and Medicine. The project has developed over the years till it became an independent English language Center and administratively and scientifically supervised by the University Secretary.
 
The Higher Committee to supervise the English Language Center is presided by the University Secretary and the Center is managed by the Center manager, the secretary of the higher committee. The higher committee is consisted of representatives from the main faculties that the Center serves, like secretaries of Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Economics and Administration, Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences and Faculty of Society.
