Distance Education Program
The ELI Online English Program for Preparatory Year students registered in the KAU Distance Education Program offers two General English virtual courses via Blackboard™ Learning Management System (LMS). The program curriculum is designed to take students from CEFR A1 'Beginner' level to CEFR B1 'Intermediate' level. The two courses are ELCA 101 and ELCA 102.
ELI assesses Distance Education Program students based on their performance in the course over the entire semester using coursework / continuous assessment and a computer-based or paper-based final examination.
As a KAU requirement, Preparatory Year students must pass Intermediate ELCA 102 (CEFR B1+) in order to secure college entry. Students who are able to demonstrate a level of proficiency beyond this by providing a current and authentic iBT TOEFL score of 45 or above, or General IELTS overall band score of 4.5 or above, are exempt from ELCA courses.
