HE KAU President Prof. Abdulrahman al Youbi inaugurated the launching of the scientific research week events organized by the deanship of scientific research under the logo (Scientific research in community service) on Sunday, April 17th 2016. KAU vice-presidents, faculties' deans, faculty members and researchers attended the ceremony.
The ceremony also was an occasion for the delivery of 11 distinction awards, the opening of the accompanying exhibition and the signing of a number of new research projects.
Prof. Al Youbi indicated that this week represents the KAU research harvest of the year as well as the review of its development march and its ambitions. He also stressed that KAU was keen on preparing a strategic plan that specifies the scientific research path that complies with the overall development plans implemented by the government. He also indicated that scientific research mission aims at establishing a innovative alliance that responds to local requirements, global trends and social harmony.
Prof. Al Youbi also indicated that KAU has reach a research advancement stage that has triggered impressive testimonials at the local as well as international levels. Such research advancement is a result of its seeking for many years to establish a basic structure, to create research labs, to devote its resources to promote scientific research culture and to equip researchers with its effective tools and methods.
Prof. Al Youbi expressed his gratitude to former KAU president Prof. Usama Al Tayib, to Prof. Adnan Zahid KAU former Vice-president for Graduate studies and scientific research, to Prof.. Youssef Al Turky dean of the scientific research deanship as well as its vice-deans and heads of units for their efforts and hard work for the implementation of scientific research policies.
From his part, KAU acting Vice-president for graduate studies and scientific research Prof. Abdulfatah Mashat stressed that KAU scientific research attained achievements came as a result of thoughtful work and strategic plans as we live our third strategic plan in which scientific research has become daily routine practice among faculty members and students.
From his part, Prof.. Youssef Al Turky dean of the scientific research Deanship delivered a speech in which he indicated that the holding of this week shed some light on KAU scientific research outcomes coinciding with KAU 50th anniversary celebration stressing that KAU is focusing more and more on the private sector participation and on increasing the number of invention patents.
In this context, Prof. Al Turky added that 98 patents have been submitted for registration of which 21 have been officially registered, 46 are under registration and 31 ones are under review. He also indicated that the number of KAU-funded programs reached 1431 programs, the number of research papers submitted for research distinction awards has reached 1258 papers and the number of research paper submitted for the research citation award has reached 570 papers.
At the end of the ceremony, KAU president honored the researchers and winners of the 11 distinctive research awards as well as organizers and contributors in the scientific research process.
